Comment on my new photography blog!

Hi there, my name’s Kevin Lu! I’m working primarily as a freelance computer graphics “Lighting and Texturing artist”  in the advertising and film industry. This is the beginning of my new blog to share with you my thoughts, art and photography.

I purchased the Panasonic G85 camera in late February of 2017 with hopes to further my understanding of image-making and to make higher quality you-tube videos. When I was working in Vancouver at Sony Image-works, I was reunited with my coworker/photographer buddy Kyle H. He had originally introduced me to photography and its correlation to my computer graphics career. Mirror-less slr cameras were pretty popular then in 2015. I was inspired and excited to purchase my first camera. Upon doing research, I found that not only would you have to invest in a descent camera body, another kicker to your wallet would be the lenses that needed to be paired to create high quality imagery. The thought of a 1000+ price-range turned me off to the idea and I held off from purchasing my original camera of choice, the sony A6000.

Fast-forward a couple of years later, I left Vancouver to work as a freelance CG artist in NYC. I have the benefits of having a lot of time off throughout the year and I find myself travelling often. I was inspired by big-name youtubers, such as, Casey Neistat and Gary Vaynerchuck to begin my own youtube channel. That resulted in me purchasing my first slr-styled camera, the Panasonic G85. It’s a mirror-less camera with a micro 4/3rds sensor optimized for video making.

You’re probably wondering, what does that mean? What’s your youtube channel about? How’s life in NYC vs Vancouver? How does photography correlate to computer graphics? Well, you can find out by subscribing to my blog and watch me nerd out about image-making, camera gear, my adventures in photography, and travel!
